Lee County Jail Roster Overview
The local Lee County inmate records route begins with the SWVRJA Current Facility Inmates page. That page links to the Public Safety Cloud JailTracker public roster for the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority. The roster covers the regional jail system, while the Lee County Sheriff's Office publishes weekly "Arrests and Jail Commits" reports that can show recent entries by name, location, booking date, and charge line.
The sheriff's office is still important. Sheriff Gary B. Parsons' office in Jonesville publishes the recent commit archive and can route sheriff-created records questions. But custody, video visitation, mail, phone, commissary, and jail authority FOIA records are handled by SWVRJA. Recent Lee County sheriff commit PDFs inspected in the research identified "Location: SWVRJA Duffield," which is the key local clue for finding people booked after a Lee County arrest.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office also documents an Alert App and a text-alert service for emergency, weather, event, and county notices. Those tools are useful local public-safety channels, but the research did not verify an app-only inmate roster, warrant search, mugshot search, or records-request feature. For inmate records, keep the alert tools separate from the SWVRJA roster, sheriff commit PDFs, Duffield phone confirmation, and formal records request path.
Use Lee County Inmate Roster
The current roster can fail, load slowly, require captcha, or omit a person who has already been released or transferred. Use the live roster first because it is the current-custody source, then use the weekly sheriff archive and phone contacts when a name does not appear.
- Open the SWVRJA Current Facility Inmates page and follow the JailTracker roster link.
- Search by last name. Add the first name when needed to narrow a common surname.
- Complete any captcha or search-type prompt if the roster requests it.
- Review the facility field. Lee County entries in the inspected sheriff PDF showed SWVRJA Duffield.
- Open the profile if results are clickable and check booking date, charge, bond, hold, case, and release status fields when shown.
- If the person is not listed, call Duffield, check the sheriff weekly PDFs, and search VADOC, BOP, ICE ODLS, or VINE based on custody type.
Lee County Roster Search Fields
The research crawler reached the JailTracker app shell but did not fully render a live search screen. The app strings still document the likely fields and controls used by the SWVRJA roster. Treat required status as unspecified unless the live form itself marks a field as required.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | App strings include firstNameSearchText and FirstName. |
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Use this first when a partial-name search is allowed. |
| Search Type | Option or dropdown | Unspecified | Options were referenced in strings but not visible to the crawler. |
| Current inmates only | Checkbox or filter | Unspecified | Used to focus on current SWVRJA custody if available. |
| Captcha | Image and text | Conditional | Captcha strings indicate the roster may require verification. |
| Facility | Display or filter | Unspecified | Check this field to separate Duffield from other SWVRJA facilities. |
The Lee County Sheriff's Office weekly commit archive is useful when a current roster search does not explain a recent booking.
The archive supports past-week checks, but it should not be treated as the same tool as the live SWVRJA current-inmates roster.
Lee County Inmate Profile Fields
Public Lee County inmate records can include different fields depending on the source. The inspected sheriff PDF showed fewer fields than a live JailTracker profile may support. JailTracker app strings refer to booking dates, facility, images, charges, bond, holds, release date, cases, warrant number, court, fine amount, and status. The PDF extract confirmed name, location, booking date, and charges.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The person's listed name; JailTracker strings include first, middle, and last name fields. |
| Location | The facility or jail location. Inspected Lee County reports showed SWVRJA Duffield. |
| Booking Date | The intake or booking date, shown in the weekly PDF as month/day/year. |
| Charges | Statute, charge code, category, description, and court may appear in charge lines. |
| Bond | JailTracker supports bond type and bond amount fields, but the inspected PDF text did not show bond amounts. |
| Holds | Hold type, date, expiration, reason, and agency contact may appear when enabled. |
| Release Status | Final release date and status fields exist in app strings. |
| Booking Photo | Image fields exist in the software, but anonymous public display was not confirmed in the research capture. |
Lee County Jail vs DOC
The regional jail roster is for current local and regional jail custody. It is not the correct search for a person who has been sentenced to Virginia state prison, transferred to federal custody, or detained by ICE. Check court records and the custody source together when a person drops off the roster after a hearing or sentencing event.
| Custody | Where to Look | What It Usually Means |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local jail sentence | SWVRJA JailTracker and Duffield phone line | Current regional jail custody tied to booking, charges, bond, or holds. |
| Virginia sentenced custody | VADOC locator | State custody or supervision after transfer or VADOC assignment. |
| Federal sentence | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal Bureau of Prisons custody, including USP Lee. |
| Immigration custody | ICE ODLS | Immigration detention or a suspected ICE transfer. |
| Notifications | Virginia VINE | Custody and case notification where available. |
Lee County Jail Facilities
The main local jail facility for Lee County inmate records is the SWVRJA Duffield Facility. USP Lee is also in Lee County, but it is a federal prison and must be searched through federal systems. Calling one system for the other will slow the search.

Lee County Booking Process
A Lee County arrest may involve a sheriff's deputy, town police officer, state trooper, or another authorized officer. After arrest, the person moves through transport, identity checks, search and property inventory, medical or mental-health screening, charge entry, bond or hold entry, classification, and housing assignment. The public record may not appear instantly because booking data has to be entered before the roster or report can show it.
The weekly sheriff PDFs show the report-level result of that process. The inspected June 2026 report listed SWVRJA Duffield as the location, a booking date, and charge lines with courts in parentheses. The court path is separate. Felonies may start with preliminary matters before moving to Circuit Court by indictment or certification, while misdemeanors and traffic cases often move through General District Court or JDR depending on the charge and parties.
Lee County Visitation Rules
SWVRJA visitation rules are video-based in the official pages reviewed. Remote visits require a Smart Communications account and prepayment, must be scheduled ahead of time, and are subject to monitoring and recording. Onsite video visitation was posted as currently suspended, so do not travel to Duffield expecting an onsite session without confirming the rule first.
| Visit Rule | Details | Source Notes |

| Remote video windows | Monday through Sunday, 7:30-10:30 a.m.; 1:30-4:30 p.m.; 8:00-10:00 p.m. | SWVRJA video visitation page |

Contact Lee County Inmates
SWVRJA uses Smart Communications and SmartInmate for phone, video, electronic messages, and scanned mail. Regular postal mail for Duffield inmates is sent to Smart Communications, P.O. Box 9113, Seminole, FL 33775, with the inmate name and ID number clearly printed. Originals are scanned and may be destroyed, so do not send original birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage certificates, or photos that must be returned.
Legal mail and money orders for Duffield use INMATE NAME, P.O. Box 367, Duffield, VA 24244. Legal correspondence must be clearly marked as attorney, court, DOC, or Parole Board mail. Attorney privileged communication through Smart Communications has its own verification process, including attorney account setup, attorney or public defender selection, identification and bar card upload, and approval by the facility.
Lee County Inmate Funds
